alveoOxy · Six-minute walk test

The six-minute walk.
Measured, not guessed.

Distance, laps, SpO2 and heart rate, recorded through the walk and the recovery, then filed on the patient's record.

alveoOxy six-minute walk test device with finger probe, showing a walk in progress
Designed, engineered & made in India
  • Designed and built in India
  • Arm or waist wear
  • Works with alveo Hub
Powered by alveoSenseAI™Desaturation detection, distance against predicted, recovery analysis

Every angle.

Drag to turn it.

Slim, light, one screen

Everything the technician needs.
Nothing the patient notices.

A bright screen shows time, distance, SpO2 and heart rate at a glance. The slim body and rounded edges sit comfortably on the arm or hip for the whole walk.

How it's worn

On the arm or at the waist. Hands free for the walk.

Patients walk at their own pace for six minutes. alveoOxy rides with them, so nobody has to follow with a clipboard and a pulse oximeter.

alveoOxy clipped to an arm band on the upper arm
  1. 1Device on the upper armThe spring clip slides onto a soft arm band, like a phone on a run. The screen faces out for the technician.
  2. 2Cable along the armThe probe cable runs down the inside of the arm, so it does not swing as the patient walks.
  3. 3Probe on the index fingerSpO2 and pulse are read at the fingertip for the whole walk.

Finger probe

Stays on. Reads through the walk.

A spring finger clip with soft pads and a strain-relieved cable, made to stay put while the patient walks.

The test

Recorded live

Every second of the walk and the recovery.

alveoOxy times the walk, counts laps and captures SpO2 and heart rate live, with no manual entries. The lowest SpO2 and the recovery are kept on the report.

Who it helps

One walk. Four clinical questions.

COPD

Track oxygen desaturation and exercise tolerance over time.

Asthma

See exercise-induced symptoms and the response to therapy.

Pulmonary rehab

Measure functional capacity before and after the programme.

Cardiopulmonary

Assess the combined heart and lung load in one walk.

Reference equations

The right reference
for every patient.

Each walk is compared with a predicted distance and its lower limit of normal. The clinic picks its default equation, and the doctor can change it on any test.

Enright and Sherrill (1998) is standard. Indian cohort equations are being added as research in progress.

One connector

Plug in the probe.
Start walking.

The probe connects at the side. Charge and sync over the same port between patients.

01

Before

Resting SpO2 and heart rate are taken and the patient's details come from the Hub.

02

During

Laps are counted on a 30 m course while SpO2 and heart rate are logged throughout.

03

After

Distance against predicted, lowest SpO2 and recovery go to the patient's record for review and sign-off.

Complete Respiratory Bundle

Spirometry, oscillometry and the walk test, together.

Airflow, airway resistance and exercise oxygen tell the whole story in one visit.

Better with alveo Hub

The walk test, in the full picture.

Distance, SpO2 and heart rate from alveoOxy land on the Hub next to spirometry and oscillometry. Works offline, and syncs to alveoConnect when you are online.
